OK.  Now that we have figured out it is hot, yes it is hot in TX to, I have an arrow spine question for all of you to help get your mind off the heat.  My new HHA bow pulls 50# @ 28".  My arrows are 29-3/4" to BOP (though I could shorten them another 1/4-1/2").  I am still on the fence about whether I should buy tapered Douglas Fir or try some XX75's.  What spine would you suggest?  My current arrows are just some I had but need a new dozen.  The arrows I am shooting now are POC tapered spined 55-60 w/ a 125gr point.  They seem to shoot ok.  My inclination is to just order the same spine in Douglas Fir but figured I would run it by y'all first.  I am also considering going aluminum XX75's.  No clue on those.  Thanks for your advice as I am no expert.

Eric, I honestly don't remember what bow it was, I had a lot of bows in those days and it could have been any one of them. I doubt very much that it was one of the over 100# bows, I usually didn't use that heavy to shoot aerials ..

I just received a Wesley Special yesterday, 51@29.  I tried 55-60 spine with 125 gr points, 30 1/2", and they shot stiff.  I tried 50-55, 125 gr point, 31" and they flew great.  If I were you, I would try a 50-55, start full-length and go from there.  XX75's, I would go 1916's.

Thanks John49.  May need to scrape some fletchings off and paper tune.  I figured if the 55-60 spine was a little stiff I could add weight up front.

Ron, many people say that when you train to shoot heavier bows that you must train both sides equally.  In other words did you also practice shooting right handed or at least draw right handed as you worked your way up in bow weight?

" I have yet to understand what people mean by handshock from Hill Style bows because this thing just has a nice bump that talks to me."
Well said Brian.
I have always felt the same with Hill style bows.

Not to change the subject, but I've got a new Shrew Hill coming shortly. It should be a beaut. All yew limbs, clear glass, African Blackwood riser (laid up like the Alpha bow), black Beavertail grip wrap, straight grip, 70", 55#@30".

Now I need to decide on an arrow setup. I'm thinking some surewoods with the new Grizzly heads.

Looper, The Yew with a black handle will be sharp! Especially with no lam up the back.

Good choices.
