Which do you prefer on your Whips, classic or Dan's locator with thumbrest?

I liked the thumb rest grip, but I love the classic grip. I can't even remember how many I've had of each, but the classic is my go to grip now.

I've had a whole bunch of both and I really don't think that there is much difference in feel, though they do look different.  If forced to decide I would go standard but certainly wouldn't turn down a classic at a good price.  I prefer the grip on the Pika and chinook better then the whip.

I LOVE the thumb rest!  In fairness I have not (yet) shot his regular grip, but I have lots of other longbow to compare it to.

Though absent the raised thumb rest, the Classic grip is still a very consistent "locator" grip.

thumbrest for sure, and Dan will do leather or beaver over it too for those who want it.  it enlarges the grip a bit and fills the hand nicely.

I liked both.I have had both and shot both at the same time.On the same model (HS Whip Longbow),same length and same poundage essentially.I was equally accurate  with both. They were both lower style grips which was most important for me.

Dan said that the traditional Toelke grip should be shot with a more relaxed grip. The classic you could hold a bit firmer when I talked to him.

I think some of the thumbrests look really sharp.

I never had  any problem locating the grip on either.Thumbrest or not. Some may find the thumbrest  more secure and easier to duplicate in a pinch or when under pressure of a quick shot.

I think its apples or oranges.

Thumb rest for me as well.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Thumbrest

A whip with a thumb rest was my 1st thumb rested bow...ruined me..I don't think I'll ever buy a bow w/o one now.

Classic for me.
