Back from Hunt
« on: October 19, 2007, 11:52:00 AM »
Well Gang....
I'm back from the Hunt....
We were realy optomistic about this hunt, as we interd the Park theres a Meadow or Pasture on the East side of the road and there was around 15 Deer in the field, We were pumped for sure, Of course this was Fri. the day befor the Season....
We set up camp and then George and I took a walk to check on the old blinds, Were about a mile from camp and it starts to rain realy good so we got soaked and went back to camp....
We hunted hard we would go out early and then come back in and eat and then go right back out, we did this for 4 days and hardly saw anything.
I did have one very close incounter while ground pounding, I went back to the field, best chance I thought, I checked the area and nothing, I decided to go out further in the field to check on some big bushes to see if anytning was bedded in them. Nothing, So I headed back over to the fence by the woods, and there out of no where was a Doe and at first look she was quartering away head down eating Acorns, Butt the kill was looking very small, so I keeped the bush and tree between us and just as I leaned over to take shot around the right side of the tree she was gone, vanished, poof....
I swear Blacktails are like Houdini....Anyway this close incounter realy got the old heart to pounding, It was fun, a shot at her would of been better....
As always after we packed up and was driving out, we were not 50 yds from camp and there was a Doe not 10 yards off the road....And then down by the exit to the park by the field was a buck crossing the field....
They always want to say, so long Sucker....
We did a lot of humping, I thought I was back in the Corp are something....
Next time will be differant....  :biglaugh:
I feel better now that i'm back and working on orders....I felt prety guilty being gone and not here putting out the work....
Everyone be patient, I'm working on it now.....

Son, you ain't no good if'n you don't take care of your own coconut and it needs some R&R.

Sounds like them skittish critters gave ya all a good workout and cleaned the pipes good.

Now to wreck havoc on the local population of whatever!  :)
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Welcome back, Mike. I bet it was nice to be out there, enjoying a few walks, stalks, and campfires. Cheers, Ben

Sounds a lot like my hunts! I see nothing all week, go to town for a shower, and the roads and fields are crammed with goggle-eyed deer, just browsing and watching the tourists go by. Makes me look forward to the vacation coming up...God knows why!  :)

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
