Best broad head around 200 gr that's at least 1-1/4" dia?
« on: March 17, 2016, 11:57:00 AM »
I'm looking at bigger broad heads than the typical 1-1/8" cut. My top choices are GK xl and Abowyer Bone Head with a 50 gr Ti insert. These are about the same price and I'm wondering if there are any other options. I'm considering the 165 gr Land Shark, but I'm not sure how they hold up to hard impacts. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you're looking for single bevel 2-Blade, the Abowyer Boneheads are sweet...

Ace 200 gr Super Express in a 2-blade, VPA 1 1/4" in a 3 blade.  You could also put a Woody Weight in a snuffer.

could you define a "hard hit"?  The simmons heads have .050 blade thickness and are GREAT heads in my opinion.

Dave has a 175 grain interceptor in the works right now that will be a shorter version of the original.  IT will also be 1 9/16.

If you want a 200 grain head the safari's are 205 and have a 1 9/16" cut.

the Interceptors(1 9/16), original interceptors(1 9/16), and tree sharks(2") are all 190 grains.

the tiger sharks are 175 grains and are 1 9/16.

A host of many viable broadheads could arguably be represented.

I thought this thread was about heads wider than 1/4.

Nothing wrong with the Abowyers you are shooting unless you wanted to move to multi blades.  Then VPA if you can find them wider, or Snuffers, and there is a host of 4 blade broadheads as well what will offer an answer to your real question.

The Palmer Extreme Cut Broadheads have worked well for me. Four blade is 160grs and without the bleeder it comes to 150grs.
