What kind of arrow weight are you all using in your 40ish pound bows? Do you keep with the 10 grains per pound or go heavier?

Love this thread.  I started with a 53# recurve a few years back.  Never got a shot with it.  Got a 42# last year and loved shooting it, but was a little unsure about hunting with it.  Decided to after consulting on TG, but never got a shot with it either.  Got my first brand new bow this spring and opted to go with 47# after a lot of thinking.  Got two shots opening weekend and both jumped the string.   :(   I went back to the old 42# Ben Pearson because it's almost unnaturally quiet.  Hoping to get a shot with it soon.  This thread reinforces my thought process on my two go to bows.  Hope it works out for me as well.

Just realized that my arrow wasn't an autumn orange 2117 but a CE Heritage 90 cut to 30" with a Bear greenie without bleeder. Memory becomes a problem at my age.   :banghead:

Here is a few more to "add to the pot"     ;)    Both deer taken with a Black Magic ILF bow with wood/glass limbs, not a fast bow by any stretch but very quiet. Depending on the scale either 41 or 42 lbs at my draw of 28" arrows 480 grains. 150 lb+ buck was shot at 16 yards broadside with a VPA 3 blade, arrow went in till just the fletching was visible and pulled out in a step or two.

Shot this doe at 15 yards BUT used a 145 grain Snuffer. It hit the offside leg bone and still managed to poke the tip of the Snuffer thru the hide on the off side. Deer went 60 yards. Always loved Snuffers but figured I didnt have enough horsepower for them to work. Shows me again its not what you shoot em with but where you shoot em that counts!!

Don't know how to post pics

I've shot 3 deer this year with a 40lb @ 28 maddog longbow which is my draw length.

150 grain sniffers gold tip 15/35

All pass thrust and none have left my sight

2 does and a 300 lb giant buck

Poor picture here because it was the first night of the season and I wasn't prepared with my camera.  We took the picture with an I pod.  My 11 year old son Jacob shot this doe with a 33# @ 23" recurve.  I set his max shot distance at 10 yards and opening night he was offered this shot at 8-9 yard.  He shot right through the rib cage and the arrow stuck in the ground.  The deer died 50 yards away and it only took about 5 seconds.  His arrow was an Easton aluminum 1716 with an eskalite zwickey broad head.
