Long story about this bow, I bought it new in '68, sold it around '71, re-bought it in '06- took her out to kill something with it,( I never bagged anything with it during my first ownership, the other kid did though, a 6 pointer I believe). And then this Jersey stud walked under my tree on Friday the 13th.

56" Bear Grizzly 43# at 28", I draw a bit over 29". POC arrow with a STOS

nice...very nice...
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

This was with a TD recurve I made that came out lighter than I anticipated. It ended up 40# @ 28". This shot was a complete pass through as well as one other.

A friend of mines son, "Plumber", has this bow now and I can't wait until he shoots one with it.

You folks really are getting it done! Outstanding pics, thank you very much for sharing them. I think I'll just get my longbow made at 45# @ my 29" draw. These are some very inspiring and motivating pics to say the least!   :D

The good news is that those are my specs, 45# @ 29" so if it don't work out I may be interested in what ever you might buy....   :biglaugh:   I'm sure I'm not the only one!   :dunno:

I opened the forum expecting to do a search for sub 45# bow kills and here was this thread!

I've been hunting with 46-48# and very pleased with the results. I just bought a set of 56", 42#@26 draw weight limbs for my PCH. I thought the limbs might be a bit light. The bow is fun to shoot and I'm thinking it will be terrific in my turkey blind.

I'm thinking to use Beman MFX Classics, spine 600, 27", with 125 single bevel Helix with 50 grain insert. According to Stu's Calculator with which I have fantastic results, this will be a 407 grain arrow @ 9.6 GPP.  I could also go with 500 Spine, 27.5" with 125 grain Helix and 100 grain insert. This would add 100 grains and get me to 12 GPP.

My first one, this doe, another doe and spike fell to my 42# Ben Peason Cougar.

Then 48 years later used a 42# Black Widow.
