Spring time = family shooting time!
« on: March 28, 2016, 08:29:00 PM »
Got home for work and wanted to do a little form work with my Wesley Special and dial it in for the Tradgang Virtual Shoot. The goal is to simply not embarass myself. Both boys decided to join me. I got my oldest son a set of 9/32" POC's for his birthday last week to upgrade him to "big boy" arrows to go with his Osage Snakey self bow. They are good arrows, and fly really well. That allowed me to pass his old arrows down to his little brother. He was excited to upgrade from suction cups, haha. I used balloons to focus their aim. My oldest hit his at 15 meters on the second shot. I used to use dollar bills and race him to hit it, whoever shot it got the dollar. His aim improved fast! Haha.

A lot of time between rounds with these boys!

The oldest with his gorgeous gifted bow (I'm always jealous of it)

The little one enjoys working on his kneeling shots:

Haha yeah, not sure what the allure to wearing socks is, but I guess some things just make more sense when youre a kid.

Stocking feet are great for stalking... as long as you don't have cactus growing close around. Great pictures.

Just curious, is your youngest boy's bow a piece of plastic pipe?

Newhouse; it is, haha. We were at "Buggy Days" out in Barnsville, GA and a guy was selling them. He wanted one so we got it. When we got home I took off the foam handle and painted it brown. Then I put mink fur silencers on it, wrapped the grip in leather and installed a small rubber arrow rest that I had. He loves it and it shoots great for him (he's 3). We'll upgrade when the time comes, but his bow is his favorite thing and I'm not sure he'll part with it very easy. After I "remodeled" it and gave it back to him he was very excited.

Fantastic!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

That's awesome!  I have a 2-year-old that runs around the house holding a bow saying, "shoot - bow - arrow!"

I can't wait until he can hold still long enough to actually get a few arrows towards a target.  Right now they just fly wherever - if he can even get the bow drawn without them falling off.

Thanks for sharing!

That is great!  And you took me back with the mention of Buggy Days.  I grew up in Thomaston, GA and always looked forward to Buggy Days in Barnesville.  Man, I haven't thought about that in over 20 years.

NEB: This was our first year attending. We usually hit the Cotton Festival in Gay, GA in the fall. Buggy Days was awesome. I have never seen a town where the primary mode of transportation for the town was ATV/UTV's. I actually stopped one family on a big UTV and asked about it, he said "yep, pretty much everyone just uses these to get around town, the cops don't care so long as we have the orange caution light on top." Very nice event.
