Being bitten by trad gear and having a longbow by Trinity bows I am now looking for a recurve.
The ones I have honed on to are the following -
1) Dryad orion recurve 66 inches with xl ACS rc limbs.

2) black widow pch 62 inches.

Being stuck in hospital recovering from a slipped disc surgery gives me time to ask you guys for real user reviews.

Inputs please.
The bows are in the same ball park financially,  both bowyers also seem top notch professionally.

I would consider a Stalker Stickbow and a Timber Hawk as well as an RER. I own a Stalker Wolverine and I have a Timberhawk on order and an RER is on the list to get.
What gives me wings? Flying with my arrows over and over again. And never giving up...For giving up means not believing...

McDave

I'm fond of the Black Widow, but can't make a comparison with the other bow you are considering.  I'm not sure a PCH even goes to 62", however.  You might want to consider a PSA instead, which would seem to me to be a better balanced combination with limbs to make a 62" bow.

Technology....the knack of arranging the world so that we don't have to experience it.

Tradcat

Toelke Whip or a Heartland Pulse... Hands down, the two best bows I've ever shot !....and I've pretty much either owned or shot most of the longbows that are out there. Great Northern Bushbow is up there too. Just my .02 worth

The Whittler

McDave is right the PCH only goes to 60". But you can't go wrong with a BW, any one of their recurves.

Stickbow

Having shot both I would go with a Black widow over Dryad.

Thumper Dunker

Take a look at Rainy Day bows George makes a great 62" bow.
You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Hi

No experience about Dryad - but my BW MA IV - 54# @28 is honestly said the best bow I have ever laid my hands on  :)

Performance and durability vice I have nothing more to hope for...

And this BW spits arrows with deadly authority...

And customer service at BW is flawless too.
You lost your money-you lost nothing, you lost your health-you lost something, you lost your personality-you lost everything...

YORNOC

I've shot one Dryad, and I believe it was 64".
I have shot many, many Widows in my years.
Although Widows are high quality bows....I would take that Dryad Orion with 66" limbs all day long. The 64" was a smoker, super smooth and very easy to shoot. Everyone who shot it that morning was very surprised by it's performance, we had never shot a Dryad before.
It really stood out.
I don't know about their customer service however, and as said above...Widow is tough to beat when it comes to service.

Thanks a lot for the support.
I interacted with (emailed ) a lot of bowyers. The ones who are proactive in response are- Ed Boyd of trinity longbow,  black widow , dryad and sky archery.
Not interacted with heartland, RER ot great northern.
I see costs as roughly equal (bw slightly more but prettier ) .  After interacting on the phone I like the dryad - Mike seems a upfront person. No slur perceived or implied upon Bw as I did not call them up.
Leaning towards an orion as of now , will keep checking for more information.
Thanks again

Well it's funny what we propose to do and then turn up doing.
Ordered a sky ilf longbow with foam core limbs.
Also planning to put my deposit down for a centaur dark matter takedown chimera.

Among those two I've owned and shot only the Widow. Anything that can equal a Widow is a great bow.

However, I have a completely differently favorite these days.

MCS

I love my Widows but recently bought a Zipper. I'm really enjoying it.

SKY makes a very nice looking riser I am sure you will not be disappointed.  I started shooting a Titan ILF riser this past fall and that is all I am shooting these days.  Even picked up a second one so one can be set up for hunting and one for 3D.  Let us know how it works out for you.

It sure sounds like you have been bitten by the bug.  Enjoy your new bow(s)
