building arrows
« on: January 25, 2007, 10:54:00 AM »
Ok guys,
I've read all these posts about making your own arrows and it got my wheels turning. I think i'm gonna try to make my own in a few weeks but I have some questions. Is it easier to start with dowels or square pegs?? And what is the easiest way to test the spine on the arrows??

it's easier to start with dowels but you have to know what you are looking for. You'll need a spine tester. Do a search here and you will find some plans to build an inexpensive but accurate one.

If you're just starting out, I think you would be better off buying shafts that have already been spined for you. A lot of different folks sell them.
