I had that same look one night there. Cubs roosted like turkeys around me and some angry Ol girls close by in the dark...

I am going to miss this trip this year. Come on 2017  :)  Good luck everyone. If you have never been there prepare yourselves...your mind is soon to be blown    :archer2:

Since there is only a view of like 4 feet between you and the bait,  of course they looked big.  Dave, they were only 4 feet away!  :-)

All I can say, when a bear expert like Ryan names a stand Too Close ... well just think about it.  :-)

Had to poke this old girl in the nose with my broadhead when she got less than 3 feet away, see the cut off stick. This went on for 5 hours well into the dark. Hunting with Jerry Russell last year in Quebec.

I remember the very first afternoon...I was asked, "Are you afraid of bears?"  My answer resulted in a 'Too Close' encounter. When you can smell the blue M&Ms on their breath...you're in the game.

'Determination': Special stand, not for the faint of heart. When the rest of the camp gives you a send-off handshake, you gotta be wondering what's about to happen.

There's nothing as cool as climbing down a mere 10-12 feet at dusk while an aggressive bear is feeding 12 yards away. The rest of the bears are lurking and popping their jaws. You might even be lucky enough to have one in a tree next to you.

3 days I tried to sit this stand. Never got to do it...

My favorite stand at Ryan's is ONE section of ladder stand high...3 feet. It has a large tree top that was taken out by high winds right in front of it. The bears like to climb up that to "investigate". Every so often you have to move just a little to keep them out of your lap.

Can't wait to get back to see some of my favorite people. Next trip my son will finally be able to experience one of the most interesting hunts in NA. Good luck to all this year's hunters.

Never know what the trail cameras might catch!! Is that your serious face Steve?

Hah. To your credit, one of the few place on earth I am not labeled "Robo Cop" is at Stickflingers.

Now that's what I call a nice low stand! No angle of penetration worries with that one.
And 4' away on Too Close?? Good thing my arrows are cut 29" in case I get to try that one!
I've been practicing at 13 yards.   Maybe I better scoot up a little!

Buckeeboy

I may have to ask Ryan If I can hunt that 3 ftr...like the idea of being that close.

As close as you want boys!

The ground blind Bill.... Is still kinda there but always being knocked down by bruins!
