Your friend sounds like he has an elitist attitude, unless he was just kidding. Shoot what you like to shoot. Trust me, no one cares (except your friend).

Broken Arrows

If that statement was true everyone that isn't shooting a self bow are sell outs. Shoot and have fun.

I like Pops simple response to shoot what you like.

Thanks guys. This is a guy who just got into traditional got his first real longbow and now he knows it all. He also said that if you make a longbow shorter than 60" it could only be made with no more than  a 25# draw weight or it will break. Thanks guys I know I'm not a sell out I just had to share the ridiculous statement that was made.

BAK

It would depend entirely what class you where trying to shoot it in.  I agree it is no less a traditional long bow than a similarly constructed recurve would be.

I hope not cause I just ordered a new 3 piece lol

Basinboy, you hunt from a tree stand?  That's like eating your dinner salad without the fork being chilled.  It just isn't done!!!!

Corey didn't see your post. What's up brother? I guess your one too plus a tree stand hunter. Time to give it up. Jon

kennym

Ask him how many pieces are in his longbow....

Bet more than 3!

I've made some with probably 20 to 30 pcs in em.

Seriously, do whatever blows yer hair back and don't fret about it. If it's legal, all good with me. I may choose not to do "whatever", but that don't make "whatever" wrong.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Well put!

a 3 piece?  Oh the Horror!!!!How can you live with yourself?  I won't shoot anything more than a 2 piece made with the latest in fiberglass carbon technology    :biglaugh:

Some of the best shooting for me LB's are 3 pieces. I do not own one but it is not because it an't trad enough.
I tend to ignore comments by ( trad purists) most were not even around when all we had was recurves and LB's.
If your friend thinks you are not trad enough he should see my ILF rig. No natural materials in it's makeup, unless he considers carbon natural.

Agree with Bisch/Brent dumbest thing Ive ever heard, ask your friend to explain why it isn't a long bow..

If you like it, shoot it and enjoy it.  Some shoots restrict it such as the North American Longbow Safari.  They don't allow any three piece longbows nor any RD or recurves.  String can not touch the limb other than at the nocks.

knobby

Yep, you're selling out. If it'll make you feel better, just send it to me. Problem solved.
You could spend a lifetime trying to conform to what everyone else says is "traditional". Shoot whatever it is that makes you happy.
Nothing beats a takedown when you travel to hunt. If your arrows aren't overly long, buy a takedown shotgun case and customize it to hold both bows and arrows. Very convenient.

3 piece LB...geeez...might as well shoot a X-bow

Shoot what you like......and then look for a new friend. My goodness.....I hope your not using carbon arrow.......   :biglaugh:

You know what I shoot Jon! It's a 3 piece and I do hunt from tree stands most of the time. Lol
I also had a purist knock me for using lighted nocks when I posted a video of a hunt. It sure helps the viewers as well as myself see where that arrow went.
You can't make everyone happy. They really don't matter anyway  :)
