Haven't hunted with it yet, but I just got a brand new beautiful 66" Fox High Sierra that is plenty maneuverable and agile for my woods.

I've got a 30" draw and have narrowed my small collection of bows down to 2 64" Kodiaks and 2 66" longbows. I also called Jay St. Charles a couple of days ago  and ordered a 66" Thunderbird recurve. Longer bows are just more pleasant for me to shoot.

Long story short. Long bows are cool.

Ron,
I inherited my Dad's hunting bow, a recurve.  It is 65 1/4" long, tip to tip.

I am 63 years old and I think I was 7 years old when he traded for it.  So it was used when he got it.  He mostly used it for deer hunting, but I remember him telling me how he and a friend  had great fun shooting suckers in the spring in a small stream.

I have shot it, but like bows in the 60" to 62" range.  LBR made a string for me, but I have not made any efforts to tune it yet.  Maybe this year.

picked up my two longest recurves this past year, a 64" blacktail and a gamemaster jet (66").  haven't hunted with them yet but intend to this fall. While shooting from a knee, I do have to cant the bow a little more to clear the bottom limb but shouldn't be a problem. they draw so smoothly though. love shooting them

My bow is 64 inches. I like longer bows. Short ones just seem to stack badly.

I hunt with a 64" curve when in open country like elk and moose hunting.  Will go as short as 60" for ground blinds for pigs.

I love the 64" bow.

I shoot a 64" Brack and really like it, no problem in hunting situations from the ground or tree stands. I use it for everything from bowfishing to squirrels, deer and everything else I can hunt and shoot.

I don't get nearly the opportunities to hunt that many of the rest of you get, but I do try to hunt & shoot as much as I can.  That being said, my shortest bow is 64" and I use it in trees and on the ground just fine.  I've whacked it on tree stands or tree limbs a few times, but I usually can avoid that.  Shorter bows don't shoot so well for me though.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

64" recurve for me. I shoot it the best and all the maneuverability in the world won't help you if you can't hit anything.

My son's recurve is 64". I bought it last year when he exploded and grew over night. His wingspan is over seven feet and with those monkey arms 64" seemed like a good choice. I have to admit that bow is really comfortable for me to shoot. Maybe a long recurve is in my future. There was a 64" tip in the classifieds not long ago and I was a little late. Maybe next time.

Looking back over this thread, looks like quite a few folks like 64" bows. They do draw smoothly.   ;)

I think you can shoot any of them accurately but Ive come to prefer 62 or longer after 41 years of archery.
No denying the longer bow is more pleasant to shoot.

So, maybe a bit extreme, but I also just picked up a 72" English Longbow that was on a heavy discount from the seller, and, although it's not a 'curve, I'd love to give that a try in the woods after I get good enough with it. Really long, sure, but it's ambidextrous, so I have the versatility of changing from one hand to the other if it's an easier position.

The long and the short of it (ha) is I wouldn't shy away from a longer hunting bow.

I moved from 62" to 64" this year and would consider going to 66. Not many 66 inch bows are made though.  If I ever have a custom bow made, it will be at least 64".

Having a long draw (31") means that those long bows are so much nicer to shoot.

58 is about as short as I want to go. For hunting at my 28" draw length, 58-62  works good. But 64 inch recurves are so stable, I wouldnt let the length stop me from hunting with a 64 or 66.

Love 'em 64" and up.  I hunt from pop up blinds, homemade blinds, stands...works for me.

I like 66" but since they're getting harder to find ,my hunting bows right now are a 64"/60lb Cheyenne, a 70"/62lb Shadowcast longbow, and a 70"/50+lb(62@32") 1957 bear Kodiak Special.
