Best Hunting Seat, what do you have ?

I' m looking for a lightweight hunting seat that doesn't have me seating on the ground. Has anyone used Big Jim's Hunters Seat that goes against a tree ? Or maybe the Red Neck Seat, but that looks a little on the heavy side. Let me know what you guys use. I would like to use it for both Turkey & Deer.

Yep - Love my Hunter seat from Big Jim. Light, Portable, Adjustable and doubles as a great walking stick when you want to move.  I actually think the mobility is what I love best about it. One of the best investments I ever made.  Good luck on your search!

In any TG hunting chair discussion it's a requirement that the "Torges Seat" be brought up so I'll go ahead and get it over with.    

Of course there must be pictures! Here is one of mine strapped to a cottonwood in the backyard.


 

These have some distinct advantages along with a few disadvantages.

Advantage wise, they are EZ and inexpensive to build and use.  Easy to carry as well.  Fast setup and takedown. Very suitable to the mobile hunter as I and many other Western hunters are.  It's quiet.  

Disadvantage wise, there has to be a tree handy!  It's not very useful in antelope country.  It's not terribly comfortable either although a foam pad is light and helpful.  The most suitable tree is not always amenable to a quick blind setup.  Not a good choice for a permanent blind as used by many hunters In the East.

I have tried a number of seats, Waldrop pack seat, diy nifty seat, tripod seat, etc and have landed on the Torges Seat myself. 2x Torges!

Waldrop Pack seat and Huntmore have done well by me. Waldrop is more mobile but Huntmore is more comfortable for long stays in a known location/blind. Both have their place.

Thanks for the pics guys,and info from everyone I appreciate it. I'm going to make Torges Seat but will probably get something else to use also that might be more comfortable. Duke do you know if the Shappell seat folds up and has a strap for carrying ?

If I was an Eastern woodlot hunter like many here are, I would have a stout weather proof blind with a la z boy and closed circuit video monitoring all around the blind.  Oh! Forgot to mention the heater and mini fridge!  There would be many days spent "hunting" with the bow left at home.

wow never seen the Millennium G100, nice and light. Bit pricey, but probably the best design I've seen. Monterey I will post a pic when I do make one. Anyone have a good place to purchase this chair at a discount ? And I would still like to hear anyone who has used the Red Neck chair. Most of the time I'm where trees are so Big Jims rig would probably work mostly. But there are times where I'm in some thick stuff where a chair would come in handy.

Just sitting at a set up, I like the Waldrop. If I am moving a lot and changing spots due to the wind and such I like the Torges. Waldrop is the most comfy for me.

Just checking out some opinions here, now I gotta get at least 4 different seats. Thanks a lot guys.    

The best ones I have are homemade. I bought a padded boat seat with a swivel base at the boating place and welded up a base to mount it on.

Waldrop pac seat. Pricey but worth it. I like the pseudo pack frame he makes it to be. I strap my little daypack to it and good to go all day.

I have been using the Ground Hunters Seat for a few years. Very lite weight and ez to set up. But I can only use for 2-3 hours. Just bought the Red Neck Seat and will use that next season. It is a lil heavey ((16 lbs). But its a good trade off for longer and comfortable hunts... jmho
