CK Scores-Pigheaded
« on: October 21, 2007, 01:53:00 PM »
I finally took a little time and went off to the woods this morning. Everything felt perfect and I'd later come to know why. I took my backpack and loaded it lightly for a day in the woods. My intentions were to relieve some stress by simply staying in the woods and not coming out for awhile. As fait sometimes does, she swung a wide curve this morning and I ended up with meat on the ground before 8:00am. As you can see I wasn't too worried about camo. It didn't seem to matter.

The shot was at this deer as she quartered me with her head down at 15 yards. I was in thick trees and she never saw me coming. The Arrow Dynamic was away lead by the Black Stump broadhead from Dr Ashby. These heads are the best built heads I've ever seen. The shot was where it was supposed to be but the deer was not. String jumped me and took the hit high through one shoulder blade and exited through the neck taking esaphagus and juggler. Wammo! She bled an enormous amount. As I later snuck along following the blood I looked up to see a deer bedded not 7 yards from me. Thinking it was the same deer I slowly reached for an arrow. As I got the arrow on the string and swung low to shoot she was up and running. Glad I got a good look at her-not the same deer I had already shot. I almost shot deer #2. I can't believe I walked right in on a bedded doe. I found my deer not 30 yards further up the trail.

Specs are-young doe-Horne Brushbow 49#@28". Arrow Dynamics Trad lite forward weighted with a 100 gr brass weight, 125 gr Black Stump broadhead, 45 grain aluminum insert. Punched through the shoulder blade and neck. Complete passthrough.

Here is my dogs waiting on their scraps. BoBo is my big dog. Dozer is the little black dog.

BoBo waiting patiently.

He's such a good boy! He likes to be hand fed. It makes him feel special.

BoBo even shares his food with the little dog.

Hope you enjoy the pics of my "relaxing" morning.  :bigsmyl:   CK

Oh, any chance of a close-up pic of that broadhead, while I'm here?

I'll have to go back out to the bow shop to get a good picture. This is just a quick cropped pic. I'll get a better one later. CK

Nice job CK! Your pigs make a great cleanup crew, i got a kick out of the bow fishing article when your pigs ate the mess of fish also. If they keep pigging out like that they'll put on the pounds   :bigsmyl:

Yeah, Bobo's a strange looking hound. I remember when he was just a puppy. They grow up so fast (sniffle sniffle).   :(
