On May 23rd, I moved from south eastern Pennsylvania to southern rural Iowa. My wife and myself settled on a old farmhouse, along with some acreage, six miles from the closest paved road, 9 miles from the closest gas station and 17 miles from the closest grocery store. my closest neighbors are 1.3 miles away as well. My wife and I been trying to make this move for close to two years when we found what we was looking for. She flew out for the initial walk through and back out for the inspections. After negotiating on the final price, I drove out as my wife packed up the remainder of our belongings. I lived in a hotel for about 3 weeks until we made settlement June 21st. With in a week, I witnessed a tornado and was land locked by a flood. What a introduction.
I was working 7-10 hour days and coming home and working on the house several hours, I managed to set out a few trail camera's out here at my house and my property. It was a jaw dropping the very first time that I checked my camera's.
Fast forward to bow season, October 1st, bow opener. I took a half day off work and was more then happy to have taken a mature doe with my Martin Hunter, 55#@28in. with a Zwickey Delta. In the early morning hours of November 5th, I was blessed to take a 140 class 8 pointer with my Martin Hunter and Zwickey Delta. Even though I have seen larger bucks here, I was truly happy to take such a nice buck. But it was truly a amazing feeling to have taken such a deer on my own property. Here are some pictures of my dream come true. And all sheds was found within 50 yards of my house here.
