DIY staining

I picked up a duiker quiver from Rod on close out a while back in snow camo. Since I have only hunted in snow here in SC twice in 30 years thought it best to darken it up. Just wanted to share with y'all. After a bit of research came across black walnut hulls as a natural brown stain. After obtaining the ground hulls went at it. Picks show before/after as well as materials. Used 1 tbsp hull powder and one cup of boiling water and let steep a couple of hours like a good strong cowboy coffee mixture. Gloves are mandatory unless you like brown hands and do it outside your wife will thank you. Aslo recommend a non stain able pot. If I did it again i would increase the hulls by 1/2 for a darker color but it turned out fine. Lastly put a coat of silicone repellent on and with 3 months before season should be well aired out. Love my arrow master quiver and the duiker is a nice addition.

Looks really good - in fact, I think that lighter stain looks better than if it were darker.  I'd say that was a huge success.
