Hello from the land of cheese heads
« on: October 22, 2007, 11:50:00 AM »
Ferret here on Dianne's laptop with an aircard (whatever that is) deep in a northern Wisconsin deer camp. Ain't technology amazing? Ol 46, George Nagel should be joining us tonight or tomorrow morning.

Weather is pretty good for up here. About 38 this morning, and clear. The only deer sightings so far are 2 I saw from my ground blind right at dark last night. No shots.Nothing seen this morning, but Brian isn't in yet from his morning hunt. he's hanging over the only scrape we have found so far. No mast to speak of, don't know what the deer might be eating.

Can't answer PM's on this laptop so Slayer1, I'll get back to you next week when we get home.

Will try and check in occassionally.
Dianne

Dang only a year ago he was challenged with a dialup connection and now he's using an "air card".  Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Good Luck!

Mickey,

Some friend of mine were up hunting in Juneau County last weekend and say they saw a lot of bucks chasing does. That's a bit south of you, but hopefully you'll be into some good activity too.

There are no deer in WI. The ones that are left all have CWD. Stay away from WI. LOL

Good luck to you.

Well Brian saw two from his stand this morning and "almost" got a shot. He chased some out of the area when he went in this evening, and Dianne sat my ground blind tonight and we chased one away as we went in. I went to a different area and made a small ground blind. One came in behind me that I couldn't see and of course ended up down wind, then it was stomp and blow time ha ha. So we are having some deer encounters. No bucks chasing does that we have seen yet.Still have 4 more days to hunt.

3/4 moon tonight and I didn't think it was ever going to get dark. With most of the oak leaves down where we are hunting, it was just like a giant spotlight shining down.

George didn't make it in yet tonight so I suppose he'll get here around lunchtime tomorrow.

Great deer hunting country up there. I love the big woods of northern WI and envy you this week. Ya can hunt for weeks and not see a cornfield.  :)

Hope you're keeping that camera busy.

You hunting anywhere near Vilas or Oneida Counties?

Good luck Mickey and enjoy yourself. Last year when you were in Wisconsin I shot my first deer with a long bow. For that matter my first archery deer. I think I will be hunting Wednesday northwest of you guys close to Dairyland. Maybe you being in Wisconsin again will bring me luck.
