I'm going to try to post some pics of my sheep adventure. My ram was 7.5 years old, scored 160".

Ok, I'm getting the hang of this now. Here's a photo essay highlighting parts of the hunt.I'll do it over the next couple days.      Enjoy.

Janet George took her Bighorn in 1989
Connie Renfro took her Bighorn in 2002

I guess i should mention that Schafe had enough trophy size sheep for 3 more Grandslams if he could have afforded 3 more Desert Bighorn hunts.

I was answering the question incorrectly when I said about 25 per year in CO.  That includes wheel bows too.  But, I know for a fact that there are some taken every year with sticks.

Thank you, HornHunter. I keep encouraging my wife with information like this.  She does love whitetail and javelina hunting, although we can't make it to Texas very often.

As I was walking back to camp on a narrow, faint hiking trail. I couldn't believe my eyes, laying in the gravel, between my feet was a Swarovski bino adapter! Another sheep hunter years ago, before me had walked this same trail and dropped his $90 Swar. adapter. I'll bet he was bummed out. Plus me and my partner Scott found some mule deer sheds too.

sightsee: while in photobucket with the pic displayed, look at the boxes displayed under the "share this photo" column and click in the IMG box and it will say "copied".  Then in this Trad Gang posting box, right click to load the photobucket picture.

Thanks Creekside.

This is a mandatory setup for glassing sheep, goats, or big mule deer. The other tip is locate as many glassing points to setup on and have your buddies at each glassing point for you with this setup. I could glass 5-7 hours a day which is the name of the game when it comes to rams, they move at anytime of the day.

After 6 long hard days of pounding that mountain I finally got with in 60 yards of my first ram. What a feeling it was to watch this ram unaware of my presence. I was able to slip in and around and lower myself over a cliff to within 50 yards of him and his two buddies bedded on the low side of the juniper. It was several minutes before the other two rams which were both shooters to expose themselves but it was 50 yards out and I couldn't justify the shot even though I was shooting great at practice that far.   :archer2:

Shot a dall in the N.W.T. back in 1989 when it was still kinda affordable for a average guy to go on a sheep hunt. Way above my income bracket to go any more. Drew a bighorn tag for Colorado in the mid 90's but no luck on that hunt. But still dream of spending time in sheep country. Just wish I was still as skinny as I was back then.
