NewGold Tip traditional Classics are in
« on: July 01, 2016, 01:50:00 PM »
Hey ya'll, we just got in some of the new GT traditional classics and my goodness are they bad!! Bad like a honey badger!

I just finished a video and we are currently editing it but the jist is that I shot a cinder block from about 12 yards seven times with the same arrow....7 times!! before the insert broke and point, insert and collar vacated the premises.

The shaft was left with a few minior splits about a half inch long but otherwise unscathed.

I was using 340 spine from my 67 lb longbow and 32" draw. Pretty cool.
Check them out on our web site. video to be up soon.
thanks, bigjim

I need a dozen of those! Sawmill saw the demise of 5 arrows.
Let try them, order on the way

BigJim, What weight upfront did you have on the .340's?
Might have to try them.

Bit of advice to people who get them. Change out the nocks I've been shooting them now for about 3 weeks and on the first day after 3 shots I went and bought Easton X nocks for them

I actually changed over to the 400's. I find that they work better for me.

The 340's flew and bare shafted fine, but they were a shade stiff. The static spine is the same as numbered but due to the extra weight, the dynamic spine will be a bit stiffer.

The full set up gave me 13g per lb on the 340's so I took the 400 spine and used Easton HIT inserts instead of the stainless weighted inserts that come with the shafts.

I have 300g up front on a full length arrow for about 715g I believe...need to get final weight to be sure though.
I am shooting them out of a 67lb at my 32" draw cut to center thunder child and they fly just like the regular gold tip 340's.
I haven't shot them a ton, but haven't had a bit of trouble with the nocks including the nock that ejected from the test shaft 6 times after the arrow struck the cinder block...one time the nock flew 35 yards to the rear and another it drilled me in the chest.

I got some in about a week ago. So far I'm impressed with them too. They're an improvement from the Axis. Much more durable with the outsert.
