Shoulder Surgery?

Is there any one out there that has had a total shoulder replacement and can still shoot a 40 lb.bow?? Draw arm shoulder is shot and am trying to decide how long I can put it off. Hurts me to give up traditional bow hunting.

I had a far lesser surgery in February and was able to shoot a light bow in 3 weeks. However, even though I can shoot my hunting weight bows, I am still not 100% effective yet. My shoulder gives out after 30 to 40 arrows. It takes a while to get everything back to normal. Bye the way, the physical therapists know what they are talking about, so follow their advice.

Not sure what "Total shoulder replacement" is. Are parts replaced with titanium/stainless/nylon? How are the muscles/ tendons re-attached? As is so often stated in shoulder problem threads, talk with your doctor and do the therapy.

Yes the joint is replaced with metal. All the doctors say the pain will be over but won't say what the outcome as far as shooting a bow COULD be.  
I'm thinking it's mostly because of not wanting to disappoint any one if it don't work out. That's why I'm asking here at Trad Gang.

I had a total shoulder replacement in 2014. I got most of my mobility back within 6 months but strength is another matter, at least for me. I took a bow to my surgeon and to my PT and said "this is what I need to be able to do" and they didn't get it. It is not the drawing arm which is the problem, it is the bow arm, which is the shoulder I had replaced-- mine collapses when I pull the bow much past 30# (my old hunting weight was 43#). I haven't given up yet, but it has been discouraging. Find a PT who gets it about bows is my best advice. Pulling the bow with that arm is less of a problem. I could shoot LH if I worked at it I do believe.

Is it like a knee replacement where you can get a partial instead of a full one? If so you might ask about that.
