54" Bows
« on: July 08, 2016, 08:02:00 PM »
Hey, Folks! I was wondering if anyone wanted to post pictures of 54" bows they like?

Also, maybe an odd request, but I'm curious: could you post the riser length if you happen to know it? I don't have a 54"-er myself, but I've been really interested in the past several months. I'm just worried that the shorter "legs" might make the bow draw feel less smooth....

I've been browsing around various places on the "interwebs"  for a nice condition Shakespeare Super Necedah at a decent price, but I'd also love to see what's out there that's new and maybe made by other Tradgangers!

Thanks, and have a nice weekend, everyone!

Are you looking for 54" recurve or longbow?  Toelke, Shrew, JavaMan bows in both recurve & longbow.

RER Arroyo 54" Static.....Close your eyes and you would swear you were shooting a MUCH longer bow. Smooth, quiet and quick...not to mention very nice looking.

I have several Shrew and Javaman in classic Hunter and Elkheart models that are 54".  Some are take down and some one piece.  All shoot very smooth.  I'm a 47#@28" but many guys draw longer with these models with no issues.  If you want pics pm me and I'd be happy to send.
Good luck.

My 54" 7 Lakes Sawed Off 50's style recurve-all osage with bamboo cores-55@28.  I measure the riser to be 15" fadeout to fadeout.  I'm very pleased with it!!

My 54" Java Man Elk Heart. I only draw 28" to anchor, but I pull this one back behind my ear with no stacking.

Wow! Beauties!

Thanks for all the responses!

I'm looking at both recurves and longbows - I keep fluctuating between which I want more - and so I'm still undecided.

Regarding the 7Lakes: I've actually got two longbows from him, and they're great! Mike's a great guy.

The RER is really interesting as I've never shot a static, but all these bows look amazing. Of course you can't ever go wrong with BWs, Shrews, Toelkes, Kanatis, a classic Wing, or Javaman!

I don't know too much about Kadbow - I'll have to check them out!

Fresh coffee and being lazy in front of lotsa bow pics is a nice way to ease into your Saturday!

I'm not really sure you can go wrong with a Toelke - Pike or otherwise, haha.

You nailed it in your opening comments.  I've been shooting the same Shakespeare Super Necedah for 45 years.  I pull 30 1/2" and it is smooth all the way.  Don't think this bow has even heard of stacking!  They're out there everywhere from $20 to $100+.  Just keep looking.

I was out shooting my 54" Pika today. Very compact with the bow bolt and just a smooth shooter. I draw 28", for reference.
