I got bit by a golden spider.
« on: August 08, 2016, 04:54:00 PM »
Hey everybody,

So as the title suggests, I was bitten really bad by a golden spider. Actually it was a golden black widow to be exact.

I was given permission by my wife to order a new bow a few weeks ago. No doubt because I pestered her relentlessly about "needing" a new bow. I knew I wanted a black widow, being a Missouri boy myself its only right that I have a Missouri bow. Plus I have always loved the way they looked, felt, and shot.

So fast forward to this past Friday. I decided I needed to drive down to Nixa and have a few words with the BW boys and really get some hands on to know exactly what I wanted to order. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, a PSAX with their autumn camo. Well I got down there and spoke with Roger, who is an awesome guy by the way, and he told me to just start grabbing bows and shooting them.

So if you have not been to their shop, they have this massive wall of bows all strung up waiting to be shot or bought. So I started with the PSA's and there were a few nice looking ones and they shot alright. Well as I was putting one back out of the corner of my eye i see this golden glow in the PCH section.

Could it be? Is it Osage? Is it the right length and draw weight?

The answer is yes to all accounts. A 58" 52@28 PCHX all in Osage.

Well to say I was smitten is an understatement. But how would it shoot for me? And I came here to custom order a bow, not just buy one off the rack.

Well the bow shot great and even after I put it down and got the tour of the shop and saw all their different wood options and being told I could get anything I wanted essentially, I just couldn't stop thinking of the golden spider.

So I told Roger thank you very much for the tour and the offer to build me a custom bow, but the ole osage was going home with me. It was meant to be.  So money was handed over, the bow was all dressed up and we had a great 3 hour drive back to St. Louis with me giggling like an idiot.

So to end this all, here are a few pictures of the prettiest, best shooting, and most expensive bow I have ever bought. Enjoy and try not to be too jealous, lol.

That is a nice looking bow for sure. The wood looks like it has started to age, very nice. Looks like all the stars lined up for you.

A home run for sure congrats! Blood makes the soft luster of the Osage stand out even better.

Some bug bites are not so bad, and then, I guess certain ones are downright pleasant. Nice looking bow for sure.

Love it! The Osage and black look very sharp together! Great looking bow. Some old Easton autumn oranges would look really cool with that bow.
