Charlie and Rob were now in areas that looked promising.  The started out where they left off last year, and commited for a day and a half in an area that was covered up with deer last year, the there were no sitings by either of them.....that spot was also hot the year before for me seeing 8 or 9 different bucks in one day...all but one in bow range.

Bob and Vance took to running together and they started sighting deer and pigs as they stayed on the move basically chasing hogs.

Vance and Charlie are still out traveling, and Bob is as well I believe.....ya gotta watch Bob...he'll be filming when you aint lookin.

Mitch should have his camera tomorrow, and maybe him and Fred will tell a few stories.......

There I was deciding to wait the extra few minutes till 10:30 . I looked to my left and nothing , looked to my right and nothing either . I had a feeling something was going to happen and I slowly looked left again and low and behold there was a huge buck about 25 yards away walking past the first shooting lane with his nose to the ground . I swung my bow up and drew at the same time and released as he passed the last shooting lane , the one I had just cut the branches on . Perfect neck shot and down he went . since I am not used to using a safety harness in my excitement I tried to get down without undoing it . I'm glad no one gets to see some of the stuff I do when hunting . I look at my watch , it's 10:25 , time to spare . Now I have to make a decision , should I take the stand and rapid rails out and wait for help with the deer or take the deer and leave the stand and send someone back for them . I had about an hour  to pack all the stuff back where we were to meet , if I wasn't there I wouldn't get picked up till dark . Sometimes things just come to me , I decided not to hamper anyone else's hunting time by carrying out my gear so I tied the bucks horns to my harness and grabbed the treestand and my bow in one hand and the 4 rapid rails in the other and carried them out together . I'm not that strong I think adrenalin had a lot to do with it . I made it to where the trail raised up and was covered with logging debris and I could go no more . I was about 200 yards from where Terry showed up with the truck and had to leave the deer and carry the stand , I was sure glad Terry , Rob and Mitch showed up when they did . Now back to camp and some much needed lunch . The buck is a non-typical 9 point and the best deer I ever shot . These guys down here probably shoot bigger ones all the time but without a doubt this buck will be remembered for the rest of my life. The camp was making fun of me as they were taking a break and then going out hunting again and I had a buck to skin and butcher. But that was alright I got it done with enough time to take a walk just outside of camp where there was some good hog sign . Everywhere I looked there was fresh sign , I was tired so I stepped of onto an overgrown field and took of my fanny pack to adjust and take a leak , as I put the pack back on and snapped the buckle a big hog grunted and ran across the trail 15 yards in front of me . Upon inspection I seen where he came out of a trail a rabbit would have to squeeze through . Back on the main road and there was 3 sets of hog tracks in the tire tracks that were less than an hour old . Too much excitement for me , I found where someone had stuck 3 sticks in the ground and hung a small piece of camo fabric on with a bucket for a seat . The blind overlooked a small mud wallow . I sat on the bucket to catch my breath and a small black pig comes out of the woods and starts dragging around a long branch , I am dumbfounded , as I get ready to draw a larger black and white hog comes out and I can stand it no more . I shoot the bigger of the two which ends up being about 100 lbs. More fun than the law allows . You have to come to the paradise to believe it . I won a hog hunt 2 years ago and didn't get a hog but knew the place had tremendous potential , there for I bid with confidence for this hunt . This hunt will not go cheap next year as I will be bidding again . This is only the short version as I take so long to type . I got in late tonight because I left work early and went hunting , haven't been in the local woods for a few days , and my luck mis still holding out , I shot a large doe . Double lung , and broke the off shoulder , she went down in 45 yards . As I told Vance : It's good to be me . Thanks again to Terry , Rob ,Charlie , Vance, Bob and Mitch , who if I twist his arm will probably try for this hunt again together , it will be his turn . God Bless , Fred

Maybe Terry or Rob can post some pics for me as I am computer- challenged . As a side note a few years ago I went to a fundraising raffle for a small Christian school my kids attended . They had a circular saw one of the local merchants donated and as I needed one I bid on it , I got the saw for $125 and was told by a few other people there that I could have bought it at the local Home Depot for $100 . I knew that , and felt if I had to explain why I overpaid for it they wouldn't understand . That's the way I feel about St. Jude's Auction , you may think an item or hunt is a little high but the rewards are worth it , you can't put a price on helping kids and your hunt could end up like mine and be priceless . My thoughts , Fred
