I made my own out of an old wool army blanket.  Nothing fancy, but very functional.

The bag on the left was made from an old grain sack

The bag on the right will hold everything I'll need for several days

Another one of my haversacks. Leather bottom, canvas top treated with bees wax. The buttons are bone. Som3e fancy embroidering on the flap.

These are awesome.  I've been wanting to try putting together a leather haversack for a while now.  You guys may convince me to go ahead and do it.

Wow! Great stuff guys, now I wanna make one! I have a good sized turtle shell I wanted to use for the outside, just have not gotten around to it. Thanks for the photos, I love the creativity!

I like the Bison Gear haversack, but generally prefer to carry weight on my hips and not my shoulders.

Ron, man you just brought back some memories. My Grandfather always used a bag made from a tow ( feed ) sack when rabbit hunting, to put the rabbits in.   I believe I have a pic of him with the bag somewhere.  Maybe that's why I like haversacks.

This one is courtesy of Uncle Sam circa 1942. Has lots of mojo connected with it. I'd love to know where it's been the last 74 years.

I've come to prefer them over the belt style as I can access stuff without taking it off.

After picking Selfbows brain, I made one I wear weekly.  Its pretty handy

There's several pockets to keep things organized and hold  a bottled beverage if I wish.

Cyclic-Rivers made me a red and black plaid bag like the one in the photo. I like it, holds just enough to carry well and still have what you need.

Really like my Asbell possibles bag works out well for a couple hour or even day hunts hangs right by you side where all your gear is handy to get at.pro's out weigh the con's for me.

I like mine but had to modify it with a leather shoulder strap.  The nylon webbing was just too slick for my liking and seemed to wander a bit on my shoulder and body.  When I swapped it for a leather strap it gave just enough traction to kind of stay put but not be difficult to move when I wanted it to.  I use mine the most when small game hunting or as a shell bag when I go out with a single shot shotgun.  I'm glad I have one.  If your picky about having lots of pockets, then a swedish gas mask bag is hard to beat or you could spend some more and bump up to a Bison Gear haversack.
