Shakespeare Necedah
« on: August 26, 2016, 09:20:00 AM »
Howdy all. Bought myself a project bow off of ****. Painted recurve with no info and no string. So I took a chance and bought it. So as I'm removing paint I discover that I have a Shakespeare Necedah x26 but it is the 55" model.
Other than having a heavy paint job on it and some holes drilled in it its in good shape with no twists.
The question I have is is what excactly is the brace height supposed to be? 7, 71/2, 8?

I think 8 was pretty close on most of them I had. The Cascade was like 9"

The older Necedah's, which you have one, liked a lower rate. Run my 55"'er at about 7 1/4" brace.

My 54" Super Necedah shoots smoothest and quietest at about 8 1/2" brace height.

The Super Necedah's and the older Necedah's are two totally different designs, hence the need for different brace heights.

Thank you gentlemen. I did a google search and it was kind of vague. Everything I found had to do with the 58" Necedah. I still have more paint to remove and then I'll twist up a string put on a rest and strike plate and then take her for a test drive. If its anything like the other Necedahs I have shot it should be sweet.

A rule of thumb is 1/8th of the AMO length for recurve; so I'd start at 7"

I have a 58" Necedah and it is one of my favorites, and what I'll be hunting with this fall.
