I would like to take a moment to do a quick review for one of our sponsors, Hunters Choice bowstrings. I've shot many different "custom" bowstrings through the years with good results, and honestly I originally contacted Daniel for advice on building my own strings. My own attempts have been somewhat less than desirable and with bow season on the horizon and a newborn baby in the house, I ended up ordering two strings from Daniel.
I had never tried BCYx and was anxious to put it through its paces on my Cheyenne. Upon receiving my strings a preliminary inspection shows the twists to be tight and uniform throughout the length of the string. I had Daniel add wool wraps and include both wool puffs and cat whiskers for some testing. I strung up my bow and saw immediately that Daniel nailed the length on both strings. I tied on some nock sets and headed outside.
Daniel serves his strings different from others I've used. He served much less, so that there isn't extra serving on the string where it isn't needed. I had never given this much thought before, but it makes sense. After getting my nocks adjusted the the first shots were very quiet, and only continued to improve as I played with my brace height just a little. The magic spot ended up about 7 1/8 inches. These strings are QUIET!! Daniel doesn't advertise his strings to be the fastest, but he does advertise them to be quiet, and the claim is 100% accurate.
I believe the best part of the HCB experience is the customer service. Daniel goes out of his way to make sure you're pleased with your bowstring. He loves to talk bowhunting, and he's down to earth and as friendly a guy as you'll meet. Give them a try if you're in the market for a new string. You won't be disappointed.
Good luck in the coming seasons,
Jake
