2117s out of a 45# bow
« on: September 05, 2016, 10:20:00 PM »
I was given several 2117's a while back that are cut between 29-30" bop and I shoot a black widow that I pull about 45#. Can I shoot these or will they be too stiff? What tip weight would I need to use to get decent flight? Thanks

I did it by putting 200gr up front. 2117 30 1/2" long 46# Holm-Made River Runner.

That's what my 45# likes .

Yep...200-250gr up front, and they are golden.

With a bow cut to and past center you can get just about any alum to fly. How far is the question.

One more concurring opinion:  29.5 inch 2117's with 250 grains up front is what I used for 45-55# bows until I transitioned to carbon.

I used 2117s with my 44# PTFX and they shot great.  Good heavy hunting shafts.

Try shooting them first, its not like they'll blow up or anything.  Worst case scenario is these shafts will be a little stiff and won't fly perfectly.  My PMA is 43@29 and will readily shoot a 30" bare shaft 400 or 2117 spine. A 175 grain point works well for me, your results may vary.  String type, draw length and center cut are all important factors to consider.

Shoot them and see. Very individual thing here as to what works and what doesn't.
