Sometimes, the shaft can be pulled straight upon impact if the head weight is substantial, or even if the target type makes this prone to happen. Distance from the target can be decisive too. Pay close attention to the nock end in flight, but often another person behind you and slightly below the arrow can plainly see the flight and is very helpful. Or stay close, 10 yards or less, so the arrow cannot recover via point weight fast enough, and it may stick in the target at an angle then.
