Hey guys,
I have been bowhunting now for about 25 years, never had more than a passing interest in traditional. This summer my 11 year old son found an old shakespear recurve that had belonged to my dad in the garage at my brothers.....he really liked shooting it!
He has had a compound for a few years but never really wanted to shoot much. He was out shooting that recurve all the time.
Then the lower limb delaminated. He was pretty disappointed. He was moping around all the time wishing he could shoot his bow! I suggested he pick up his compound but he didn't want to do that.
So I ordered him up a sammik sage with 35# limbs for his birthday. Once he's done with football practice he's out shooting. Once in a while he even let's me shoot it!
He seems to be doing real well. He shoots good groups at close distances and smiles the whole time.
I'm shopping for one for myself now. I'm jealous the whole time he's shooting!

So here we are, I thought this would be a good place to get advice since there seems to be very few traditional arches around here.

Welcome. Sounds like your son got bit big time and now you're catching it. I hung up my compound 20 years ago. Nothing like trad!

Once you get yours, set you and your son up with appropriate stumping arrows and go out roving or stumping.  YOU will be hooked and he will have the time of his life.

You are definitely on the right path. Once you get your bow, get some help to obtain arrows that are tuned to your bow. Then shoot! Targets, 3D , stumping, it doesn't matter. Just have fun with it.

Welcome.  You are fortunate to have the footed shaft right in Minnesota. they are a sponsor here and top notch people. It would be worth the field trip for you and your son to drive over there.

They will get you set up with proper fitting gear including arrows and have you shooting better in no time.

There are a whole bunch of other sponsors here who are great also.

Give them a yell.

Again, welcome

Thanks everyone,
I checked out the footed shafts website a while back, it's a shame it's so far away.

LOTW, welcome to the gang.
My brother in law lives in Windom MN.
I bow hunted there 2 years ago with my " other bow" (at least is was a bear) for the last time,I retired it and have gone totally trad since then.
a ride to visit the footed shaft is worth the drive, I stopped in there back then and bought a HH Wesley longbow from terry. you really should go.
