No deer hunting this weekend in the rain hopefully the weather will help out with waterfowl hunting.

I went for a quick walk today in the rain and walked up on 4 deer.  One of them got a little too close and ended up paying the price.  Pics later if I can figure out how to transfer them from my buddy's phone.  Good luck to all who venture out in the rain. Don't let the rain ruin your time outdoors.

Congrats!
I'll be out Saturday, looks to be windy but not much rain on long island.

Congrats Michael, I'm looking forward to pictures.

Unless things change, I will not hunt Saturday, not only rainy but windy as well. so far Sunday is looking clear for here.

I shot this deer today while still-hunting with a friend on public land.  He's never hunted on the ground before today and likes to poke fun at my "kids bow".  He seemed pretty impressed after he watched me shoot this deer though.  who knows... Maybe he'll pick up a recurve  someday.  He seems very interested in trad now.

Wet feather, nice job with the "kids bow". A lot more special when you do it on the ground...

Nice job Feathers ! I'm always impressed with your still hunting success. I get too frustrated by being busted by the deer so much to stick to the ground game the way you do.Even on quiet, damp ground getting up close to spooky public whitetails takes skills and patience most of don't have.

Kopper-  I've been doing really well hunting the food sources. (acorns)  i try to stay downwind of the target spots and just keep looking.  If I'm fortunate to find one before they see me, keeping a tree between me and them is the easiest way to get in range.  The rain makes that sooo much easier.  Another plus to hunting in the rain is you'll often have the woods to yourself.  a big plus when hunting public land.
A lot of people worry about the blood trail.  I've never lost one due to the rain.  A good shot is a good shot.  a poor shot is tough even on dry ground.  I feel I can get closer in the rain resulting in higher odds of making a good shot. That's just my 2 cents.
Good luck to all who brave the elements.  Enjoy the outdoors regardless of the weather.
P.S. Admountainken-  You have a lot of us following your stories. Good luck. I hope to see your smile behind those antlers soon.

I have to think this cold front might create a little more action from the bucks.
