Was hunting with my 12 year old son this morning, had a spike come in and was just out of range for him to shoot( he's limited to 10-11 yards max with his 37 lb. longbow I made him) the buck walked right past me at 8 yards made a good shot and he didn't go very far. It was a real joy to have the next generation there hunting with me.

aw ungodly amount of deer and NO shot. not seeing ANY signs of the rut and i'm banking on it to get these bucks to let their guard down a bit. happy to be seeing deer like this, most I have ever saw in my life ALREADY in one season, hell in about three seasons!

Congrats Gerald.  I hope your son can get a shot now.  It just started raining here and it just feels like "killin weather" so a quick bite and i'm headed to the woods for a wet afternoon.

just put in a ground blind, lightly trimmed inside the woods where the bucks are coming in to the bottom field and then up to where I was sitting, feeling very confident on this set up but not sure I can hunt again for 2 weeks....

Was out for the morning till about 1045. Stood one spot till 8 then moved because I was skyline and didn't like it. About 1000 I see moment and here come a nice wide 4. He was in and gone in about 15 seconds! NO shots. I was sitting about 80 yards off his scrape line. HE was diffenitly cruising and checking thing out!

Thanks men, I give him a lot of credit for realizing the shot was too far and holding back.

Well, It's been a long night and I'm still on cloud nine.  I shot my biggest "traditional" buck yesterday. I had never seen this buck before.

Wetfeathers, now that is a dandy.  It's good you haven't seen him before, or you may have been on edge just knowing he was in the area.  Congratulations.
