deer down
« on: September 27, 2016, 12:31:00 PM »
Got in the stand early today for what I figured would be a good morning. It was cool setting in the dark and I started to question my choice of clothing. It wasn't long though when the action picked up. A lone doe showed up and feed around for sometime. She spooked at one point still not sure why but she eased back to me after awhile. Now I must admit I told myself that I'd let her walk as I was after bigger fish today. That all fell through when she turned at mere yards away.

Now this old girl was really in to her wild cherry breakfast. As the deer started to give me a shot that I would have been a fool to pass I ready my bow. At about 5yards the treeshark tipped arrow struck home.  She ran straight down hill for about 60 yards and piled up in a treetop. Upon inspection the arrow took out the lungs and hit the heart. The bow is one of my own builds pulling 47# at 27". There is nothing like stick bowhunting. Hope everone has a great season.

Congrats!!  The freezer is starting to fill.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Congratulations! That is a nice looking bow. It must be gratifying to take a deer with a bow you made yourself.

Very cool!
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
