For me I like D97 on my longbows,I don't use it for the extra speed I like it for the feel of the shot.On my Hill bow with dacron, when I add some wool yarn silencers I get handshock that will rattle your teeth. It's better with no silencers, but on my other Hill with ebony tip overlays I put on D97 and what a difference that made. And with a pair of whoolie wisps it is quieter then my Hill with dacron and has very little handshock if any at all.I use B50 on my older recurves but I like to spin up an endless loop for them. For some longbows you will get more handshock with dacron then with the newer materials.

I let the bow 'tell' me what it prefers. So I use some B50, and mostly D 97. I make a few strings but Chad makes most of them-he does a waaay better job. LOL!

What Chad said. I like fastflight, but use lots of strands. They compare to b-50, but last a lot longer.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

If my bow won't shoot well with d97 or 8125, its down the road.

I use B-50 on all my bows. I make my own strings, and on my 60# Hill big five, I don't use any silencers, and It's whisper quiet, with no handshock that I can feel.

Have always shot B-50, like the feel.  I recently got a new bow and figured what the heck I'll give fast flight a try.  As hard as I tried I could not get the loud thud to go away.  Got a new B-50 made for it, now its practically dead silent. I'm sticking with B-50.

Slowbow ----------- I've not met Chad, but do have his video on string making... Looks to me like Chad could easily handle a 100 pound bow like most of us do 50, he's big and stout !!!

Just to throw in my .02 cents, I'm with Chad all the way on the string material.. FF makes my bows "feel right"... Just my opinion.

I believe B-50 is quieter and I like the soft feel at full draw. I love the durability of the new materials like Dynema.

Sounds like it's unanimous . . .  all bows shoot better with a string.  I'm gonna get one myself.

Seriously, thanks for the post, Crazy.  I  learned a lot about something I have been wanting to know.

B50 is my preferrance on all my current bows. But I did like FF on the Black Widows.

BTW, You're not crazy Ray,a little strange at times (so am I most of the time.LOL).But we all like you anyway.  :bigsmyl:    :campfire:
