very small pack for seat portion of a Lone Wolf hand climber?
« on: September 29, 2016, 09:28:00 AM »
hey guys. doing a little research on a good really small pack or bag that could attach to the seat portion of a LW hand climber. i'm thinking of something just big enough for a glove/tab, pull-up rope, maybe some wind direction powder, and a small device or two like a phone, rangefinder, or g.p.s; maybe even the safety rope to my harness.

i've seen a couple of things, like the old Badlands "everything pouch", but it's pretty small. i'm wondering if anybody has a favorite organizer that is handy to attach, could hang under the seat without getting in the way, and is fairly easy to access.

whatcha got?

I put a small possibles bag under mine. It holds all the stuff you mentioned including a small saw and some clamp reflectors. I could text or email you a picture if you PM me your number. I still can't post pics.

I have a lone wolf assault and climbing sticks.  I had the same problem as you.  I finally found an old fleece fanny pack that was big enough to hold everything and still small and quiet enough to attach it to the stand as I packed it in the woods with me.  I can post a pic later when I get home.

thanks, guys.

it must be really a niche market to make a bag that is too small to hold much of anything, and too big to fit in your pocket, haha!

i forgot that i do have one of those Leech Pack things that might do for this year. trying to find a balance between stuffing things in my pockets, and having every single thing in one bag that i can't get to.

it's probably a lifelong quest...

If you could find something like a Kit Bag made by Hill People Gear I think it might work. You wouldn't need the harness or any of the plastic hardware.

A little paracord could attach it to the seat.

Kinda pricey though.

anybody ever use a Badlands tree stand organizer bag? i think they have quit making them, but there's a bunch still available. looks like a good size.

edit -- found one on sale on the Badlands website in the "Sale" section for $24.00 and free shipping (less than half the original price). decided to give it a try at that rate.

Take a look at the 5-11 bags. They make several that are designed to attach using webbing. It would be easy to fashion it to the stand. In fact....I have several and may go outside and try it on my lone wolf.

You can get all sorts and sizes of camo pouches at Walmart.

And did you actually say "rangefinder"?

You could look on some of the motorcycle aftermarket parts sites. They make small bags that are meant to strap to the back seats of bikes. Most have varied lengths of straps to fit multiple size seats.

just wanted to report back that i ultimately went with the Tree Stand Organizer pack from Badlands. man, that is a NICE little pack! surprised that they are phasing it out. i guess there's more money in the bigger packs, but there are still plenty available out there. it's the perfect size for hanging from a climber.

i was able to put a good number of items in mine for the upcoming season: a small flashlight, headlamp, pull-up rope. windicator, shooting glove, a few things for trail marking. and it has a built-in hook for hanging from the seat of my climber, or i can use a more traditional carabiner.
