About 30 minutes after legal shooting light, I had a lone, mature doe come in. I shot her at 17 yards. The hit was perfect, so I just sat back to enjoy the morning.
About 30 minutes later, a young doe came bounding by me. I looked behind her and thought I saw a coyote running away. I looked back and there was another coyote standing 15 yards away, facing directly away from me. I came to full draw, and released my second perfect arrow of the morning! I knew the shot was good immediately.
I got down and made the short 60 yard recovery on my doe.
Sorry for the blurry pic. I was a little excited knowing that I had just arrowed my first coyote in 35 years of bowhunting!
I took care of my doe, then started slowly tracking the coyote. It made it about 100 yards before expiring.
To say I was excited would be a great understatement! What an incredible start to a new season. I just turned 50 three days ago.....happy birthday to me!
