It took four years
« on: October 25, 2007, 10:05:00 PM »
But I finally got one tonight with just a stick and string.  And it happened despite doing everything wrong.

I ran home from work, threw my camo overalls on, and ran to the woods.  No scent control, no time to wash off the normal work-a-day cologne - just grab the stand, run to the woods, get in a tree fast and sit there sweating.  The wind was perfect, however, and I grabbed my doe bleat can and went at it.  Within 15 minutes and after about 20 bleats, a seven pointer came as if on a string and gave me that perfect broadside shot.

He's no P&Y, but I'll take him.  After all, it only took four years!

BTW - I used my Jerry Hill Wildcat (55lb), a homemade POC arrow, fletched with goose feathers from the gazillion geese that infest my back yard and tipped with a zwickey.

Nice job    I have ran to the woods in the same manner as you did many times just to get a chance to go out   :archer:

Sorry guys, but all I had was my camera phone, and pics weren't too good.  Here's all I have.

That is what you call making the most of the day!  I have been there too. I bet your heart was already racing a bit, when you were getting ready. Looking back, maybe you just had a feeling in your gut? Couldn`t get up in the tree fast enough?

Great job. Nice buck too!

I wonder how many hunters could have squeezed in an evening hunt, but didn`t because they didn`t
think they had time? Alot of missed opportunities
I think.

Congratulations.
