Hello, New Here
« on: October 04, 2016, 09:43:00 PM »
Hi everyone. My name is Trenton. I have been reading TradGang forums for a long time and finally decided that I should join. I don’t know any traditional archers other than myself, so I’m looking forward to the chance to talk to and learn from some fellow trad archers.

I self taught myself to shoot instinctively by watching videos on Youtube and reading every traditional archery book that I could get my hands on. I’m not the greatest shot, and am hoping to learn some advice on this forum to help improve my shooting.

I currently own one longbow, an Abbott longbow pulling 62 pounds which is my main hunting bow. I also have four recurves, one of which I bought and restored and another which I built using the plans from Bingham. I have found that building my own bows is a ton of fun, and am looking forward to learning some tips on how to build better bows.

I’m excited to be a part of this forum and meet some other traditional bowhunters.    :)

Welcome to the group. Check down at the two Michigan organizations that are represented on the Gang, and you will surely be able to locate other archers close to you.

Don't be afraid to shoot folks who's listing shows them in your general area a PM or an email.  Great relationships come from that very thing!

Also, don't hesitate to venture to gatherings because even if you're unsure of yourself, a TRAD group will take you under wing and help wherever possible!

Thanks guys!
I will check out the Michigan organizations. It would be nice to go to some of the traditional events and get to know some people. As of right now, I only make it down to the expo in Kalamazoo.

Welcome to the fire!  This is one where smoke doesn't follow you around the edges like some other sites.

There are LOTS of recurve shooters in MI (Probably some LB folks to   :)

I'm hoping to meet some of these. Around where I am, everyone seems to be switching to crossbows. I quit going to the local archery range because there are a few crossbow guys there who can be real jerks about people shooting traditional bows.

It's a shame at time when we're being maligned by the unwashed, uniformed urban masses, that folks who hunt will draw lines in the sand...

First heavy storm, it wipes us all out, not just the chosen few!

MI is a big state, but get yourself some camping gear for next year and go to some of the shoots and meet the best people on the blue marble!

Welcome Trenton, if you can make it to Grayling in June the Michigan Traditional Bowhunter's Jamboree is a nice, laid back shoot. If I was closer I'd be glad to hang out.

Scroll down on the main forums page here for info on MTB and the Michigan Longbow Association. Good luck!
