8 days in, great season so far....

Having a ball this October. My son Danny got his first longbow kill Saturday, and I'm seeing and passing on lots of deer so far. I LOVE this time of year.

Yes it is. Steve made it special for Danny, when Danny came home from his stint as a wildland firefighter. Danny really liked all the juniper he saw out there.....so Steve made it with juniper laminations.

Danny is 25, this was his 10th deer kill...but his first with a bow. He was like a little kid again.

For those of you who don't know me and my family...Danny fell and was in a coma in November of 2014. We were told he would not be waking up. Then after he showed signs of coming around, we were told that he would "never be the same". They were wrong. He has made a complete and full recovery, he has since added another degree to his education portfolio, and he has a great job. So many kind people (especially my bowhunting family) helped us get through Danny's troubles 2 years ago....Saturday was a pretty good payoff for all of that effort.  It was a pretty great day.

I had these 2 little bucks hanging around at the same time last night:


 


 


I killed this mature doe this morning, 100 west of last nights stand. She was alone, so I figured it was a good morning to put some more meat in the freezer. Time to get serious about bucks though   :bigsmyl:
