Is it just MO deer ?
« on: October 07, 2016, 01:05:00 PM »
Or do all deer pick the very best stand tree and put their trail either 1 yard or 40 yards from it?

!@#$%^&*() ???    :bigsmyl:

As you can probably tell, bro and I put up some stands this morn...
Stay sharp, Kenny.

:biglaugh:  The good thing is you have enough deer to actually make a trail.........

Same here in WV. I just got back from moving a ladderstand. The tree I wanted (from a distance) ended up right on the main trail. My second choice didn't work out (after 95% completion)     :knothead:    so I guess the third time is a charm.

Heading out now to set up a buddy stand. This stuff can be frustrating!

Good luck!

Kenny, seems to be that way in all the states I've hunted, must be genetic, lol. Keep after them, once in a while they screw up.

Never fails, the best spots to get a drop on deer, have no or poor tree selection. Thats my gauge to know if Im on or not. An easy find on a tree is a guaranteed bust for location it seems!    :banghead:

X2!
Just checked trail cams on food plots. ZERO deer in over a week. We do have twelve different wolves on camera this fall though.
To OP, I hear ya.  Had to pile brush at base of lone tree to bump them out a bit. No deer but theory is sound!

I Hunt with my climber most of the time, the only time I hang a stand is when I can't find a decent tree to climb. For me this has been the WORSE opening week (for deer sightings I can ever remember) good luck all!

We have enough to make a trail for sure. Less where I hunt most(not because I'm there)due to EHD last year.

I know it isn't intentional on the deers part but sure seems like they know a good tree....   :bigsmyl:

And, yes, hunting a good tree is just part of the hunt for us..........

Or the trees are either to small or to darn big for a climber

Worked tonite, every deer I saw was well within range, not the right shot at the one I wanted....
