Old school camo
«

I've been thinking about switching up my camo lately. I love plaid and classic camos. I've got a too and matching Jones cap that my father wore.
Do you guys think the yellowish background is too light? I think it's probably okay in the open woods but I sit up against trees a lot. I hunt from the ground in the big big woods. Deer numbers are low so I need to take advantage of every sighting and opportunity. I know movement is key, I'm just looking for opinions on this pattern.

It's you're movement more than camo.
I personally like lighter colors.( Think asat)
My plaid flannel has the exact same colors as your jacket.
I say put it on and go hunt.

That worked just fine years ago. Still great. I agree with the movement statement above.

if only you could soak that in that hot waxy stuff that filson uses on their tin cloth then line it with an old wool blanket,,, that would be something...

Deer don't pay attention to the most recent fads. They can be fooled by any or no camo if you play by good huntsmen's rules; play the wind to your favor and sit still.

Good to hear. Since I'm a young buck, 29, I never had experience hunting in the classic patterns. I was just concerned about the lighter yellow creating contrast against a darker tree. I got a pair of good old army issue wool pants to wear with it. I was using a leaf suit but it's a little bulky and I'm just not feeling right now.

I'm pretty sure some guy named Bear took a deer or two wearing camo just like that. Stealth and watching the wind will get a deer even if you dress like Ronald McDonald.

That camo actually blend in excellent in th fall woods.
If you want more look at duck hunting clothing. They still make it and sell it for them. It's called old school.... actually

I started hunting in the mid 70s. That light WWII camo was the only thing available. I used to by XXL and layer them over all kinds of warmer under clothes. Add a Jones style hat and some face paint and you were good to go.

A whole lot of us have used the old camo and would like to have some now. I had a two piece set that was reversible, with one side being primarily green and the opposite side brown.

I like the old stuff! Wish they still made it . I think it works better than the new stuff. I'd use it.

Light camo is good. think about how the sun light plays on its natural surrounding. Dark colored object are typically caused from shadow rather than the object itself having a dark color.

I'd love to have some of that "old stuff" that fits me. Especially the Jones style hat.

It will work fine....camouflage is a concept, not a pattern.

I've had plenty of deer spend time within bow range and not spook when I've been wearing blaze orange.....and I've spooked plenty when wearing my best camo....from what I understand deer see most colors as various shades of grey. Breaking up your outline is more important than color in my opinion.

I killed a number of deer and other critters wearing that same pattern. If it was still available I would still wear it. Sadly I'm not the same size that I used to be and I out grew my old stuff.
