Perhaps think about something simple like 'Grizzly II' same great name for recognition of your brand and the 'II' designates double bevel. You could then carry that designation easily to your other lines although I'm a big fan of the Grizzly 185 grain head.

Bruin it is!

Thank you guys for all of your suggestions as well as help with the final decision!  I can build them but I'm just not good at coming up with an acceptable name.

We are in the process of welding the 125 grain version of the new head now. Oh excuse me. We are in the process of welding the 125 grain version of the "Grizzly Bruin" now. They will go to brazing next week.

I also agree on Silver Tip that's too well-known of a name for a bow company to knock off and copy for a Broadhead. Give Paul Shafferhis space for God'S sakes and quit jabbing at the admin over nothing like you been doing in the past.

I voted Bruin, but also liked Ursus. Glad to have helped in the naming process.

It appears as though some people may not realize that "Silvertip" is a common nickname for grizzy bears (due to to the silver looking tips that the fur often gets). I do understand the confusion, though, since the Silvertip bows are so popular.

I look forward to trying out some of the new Bruins in the future. What weights will they be available in, Bill?

I know this isn't one, but why not just "double beveled Grizzly" ?

As glue on's they will come in
125 grain
150 grain
175 grain
200 grain
As screw in's we will stock 150-200 grain. Of course as we do now with the Grizzly's you can custom order any weight that we can make with the available adapters

Chuck, I very seriously considered just calling them double bevel Grizzly or Grizzly DB. I decided against it for 2 reasons. 1)When someone sees the name Grizzly on a package of our broadheads they instantly think single bevel broadhead. That is because since 1984 that is exactly what the name Grizzly has meant. You know people often do not take the time to look any farther than that. That habit of not looking any farther would do a disservice to this head. 2)If I called the head Grizzly DB I would be forever explaining the difference between the Grizzly and the Grizzly DB. Now this may seem like a minor issue but consider this. We made about 10,000 Grizzly's last year. I can not tell you off hand just how many customers bought them but I can tell you it was a lot.Lets say on 10% of those do not quickly realize the difference between the Grizzly and Grizzly DB so they ask. That is a lot of time spent explaining the difference. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind talking with customers. It is a big part of my day. However if there is a simple way (Like a name change) to get back that time that would otherwise be spent in repeatedly explaining the difference. That makes a new name worth while.

Good points, Bill.   I remember years ago when I sold sporting goods from a jobber to shops, I was sold on Burris scopes... but the dealers said even though they KNEW it was a premium product, it took a lot of time to sell customers who came in with it in their head to buy a particular well advertised national brand.

Brand name recognition is critical.

I think you're making a wise choice, whatever you call it, but if Grizzly is on the package, watch out!  :)   People will still "AssUME"
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Totally understand.  and, I guess you are right.  I am getting old and just overwhelmed by all of the choices.  Heck, another name is just another one to memorize !  They will be great heads, the Grizzlies already are.

I voted Bruin too.  Do you think the DB would penetrate better than the SB for low poundage bows?

I would say no. Penetration is very likely to stop.If you hit heavy bone with any broadhead with a low poundage bow and light arrow.
