I feel your pain and you did everything right. Keep filming your hunts and sharing your story. It's hard to kill a deer with a recurve and even harder to get it on film.
Looking forward to more videos.

So Kansas law does not let you recover game that moves onto someone else's property? That's ridiculous.

Same thing happened to a guy I worked with here in NY. He contacted the landowner, the landowner asked if it was a buck or a doe. When he was told it was a buck he told my coworker no, he couldn't access his property. 5 minutes later the landowner and his son were out on their ATVs looking for the buck. It's the law

I went through the same situation at home last October on a 150" Whitetail. I kept in touch with the landowner and was eventually granted permission but it was months later.. I found the deer but of course there wasn't anything left but a skull and antlers. Sorry to hear about your luck but at least you know you did it right. I would not pester the landowner but I would keep in touch with him. Good Luck.

In Kansas, its State law, that the landowner must allow recovery of hit animals, either willingly letting you, OR BY A GAME WARDEN THAT GOES AND GETS IT FOR YOU. By law, Game wardens here have the right to access any private ground. You should have got hold of the Game official, and he would have retrieved the buck for you.

I hope you get your deer. Knowing how well you shoot, and you said it ran 50 yards...my assumption is the deer only made it another 50 - 100 yards over onto his property? You probably handled it the best way - however, I would have just gone and got my deer.
I can't tell if it's a great hit in the video - if it's marginal then I would have called too. But if it's a double lunger...

Had this happen a couple years ago. The landowner found my buck and cut the head off and left the rest. I hope you are granted access. The animal and you desrve that much

I know in Iowa you are allowed to recover, just without your weapon.

That's rough.
I was watching a public land hunt (I'm pretty sure it was in Kansas) and the deer ran onto private property. The warden said that they had permission to go onto the property and recover the deer. Even if it wasn't the law, I don't see why someone would refuse to allow you onto their property, especially another hunter who should understand the situation.

Sorry to hear a fellow bowhunter would not at least accompany you to search for the buck. I have always allowed neighbors to retrieve deer on my property. Just the right thing to do.

I too thought that IF you have a blood trail then by law you are allowed to pursue game. If you can show the warden blood then it is not up to the landowner. The laws may have changed but 2-3 years ago this was the law.
What a shame. Wish you could have been able to pursue him! Thanks for sharing the video!

That's just amazing to me that someone would not let you go get a deer that has been shot!

Same thing in Illinois You can not tresspass for any reason. I have an agreement with the adjoing landowners to my property. Call the other fist to let them know. Just keeps us from messing up the other one who may still be hunting. Also I will go help them

I was told by KDWP that you have the right to go onto private property to retrieve game. If the Landowner finds you and asks you to leave you have to leave.
