Hunting during the rut is a blast. Hard to hear all the cannon blasts and continue to bowhunt. Well this young fella came by on a trail I had relocated my stand for a 20 yard shot. I had seen several deer use this trail earlier this year. My shot was partially deflected by a pine bough and proved to be a stomach hit. No blood was found and after a extensive grid search hours later. Two hats and I gave up. We talked to others hunting the same property. I asked for them to keep a lookout for buzzards and ravens. Two hours later one of the other hunters showed up with my deer. Now that's luck. Here we are:
The Selfie after the shot:
I'm giving my ACS a good workout this year. this is my fourth deer with it. 57lb. @29.5, 64 inch. Using gold tip 300's with a single bevel Grizzly for a total arrow weight of 555gr.
He had traveled over 250 yards. Drank a huge amount of water and died in a scrub field. I'm going to try to can some of this buck.
