Saw a 160-170" today
« on: November 22, 2016, 06:01:00 PM »
I took the family out of town to meet some family we don't get to see very often. We all met up at a campground to camp and hunt for thanksgiving week. Taking the kiddos hunting on public ground and squeezing in some bow hunting when they don't want to go. My brother in law and I drove around to do some scouting at some bow only areas and we decide to take a different way back to camp. We was just driving along and al of a sudden I see the biggest deer I've ever seen in the wild about 50 yrds off the Rd. I hit the brakes and back up and he just laid down. My brother in law jumped out to try to get a pic and he stands back up and start to just trot off but wasn't in a hurry. Then I see why,  a doe stands up and runs off. We estimated him around 160-170" and he had a big 6-7" drop of his left beam.  My BIL said he's never seen a grown man act the way I did about a deer! Lol
It was by FAR the biggest deer I've ever seen!!! He did get a really crappy pic that in no way does him justice. I'll try to post a pic when I have better signal.

Yep, I don't think I've seen anything that big, i'm a pretty poor judge on the hoof though.

I am a pretty poor judge also, but my BIL is preety deer savvy and been around some big deer during his taxidermy days. He said 160 conservatively and 170 tops. All I know is it was a beautiful deer!  And that big drop just topped it offf!
