Need help with spine for a friend

Got a buddy getting into trad.
He has a 55# sage recurve he just ordered.
Need to make him some arrows. He is driving 3 hours to me for me to help set him up.
He is shooting 55# at 28 and draws 28. I plan to make his arrows with about 300 grains up from in brass insert, steel adapter and head. I can fine tune with front weight options and arrow length when we bareshaft test. But need to know if that can be done with 400 spine gold tips or if he will need .340. Planning on a 29-30" shaft length.
Figure there had to be a couple of you that shoot similar.
Would 400 be safe enough without having to cut to short or would I need 340.
Thanks!

i really dont know im going through a crazy experince right now my 400s are too weak for my bob lee so im going to have to get 340s, the 3 rivers trad only arrows bareshafts well with 175 grains the gold tip blems at 29 inches like 145 grains, i simply want alot more weight so i have to go to a 340 which i cant believe but the results speak for themselves, bow is 54 at 28 which is my draw, anyway to get a few bareshafts to try?

I have a 55# Tall Tines. With that much weight I think I would need 340.
I have some 400 FMJ that work at 29+", but that is with much less weight up front. I don't remember the specifics right now, as I have been shooting lower poundage (48) lately.

Sage comes with a dacron string and isn't a particularly high performance bow. .400s will likely work. Could always back off point weight a tad or go to 29 inches if he truly draws 28.

Yep, the sage I bought came with a dacron barn rope!! I would get a good string before I tuned much on it. JMHO
