Staying warm on stand with chemical warmers, are they most effective?

I'm wondering how some of you cold weather experts who sit in real cold weather like to stay warm. Do like to use those larger chemical warmers or several small packets in a couple different areas of your body to stay warm? Or do you like to use the battery operated devices or something else? Any tips on how you keep your feet from turning into a block of ice? Thanks and have a killer holiday season!

I use a vest with not only hand pockets to hold hand warmers...but I get pockets sewn into the back kidney area to hold two more....then dress as normal with foot warmers in my boots.

I was out sitting tonight for 4 hours and the temp about 4 F.  I used a wool blanket (hudson Bay style) to wrap in.  Also, those chemical hand warmers in my mittens.  They work good.

I have to agree they work really well. I never tried the hand warmers and foot warmers til this year and am amazed how well they work.

I never have, off all item out there, a quality pair of glove liners, quality layered socks and a quality handwarmer around the waist, always work for me.  When it was below zero, I found the artic shield boot blankets to be awesome.

I put chemical hand warmers inside of my handmuff. They work really well. I also put them in my boots on occasion. They work great.

I also use the warmers on the back of my neck &  top of the shoulders. Works pretty well & keeps any arthritis pain from giving me grief with my shoulder. Had shoulder surgery a number of years back but no pain with warm packs.

I'm getting a Zippo handwarmer this year, got tired of buying warmers for every sit. Now just refil with zippo fluid and good to go for 12 hours

Wool cycling jersey is a great midlayer and has pockets over the kidney area for those hand warmers.

Heatmax makes a cheap, packable kidney belt for the handwarmers. Really works good.

Best thing I ever learned was putting a chem body or large hand warmer on the back of my neck where it meets the shoulders.
What an enormous difference it makes.
I have hand warmers in just about every pocket, three to five each depending how cold it is.
One toe warmer on top of toes, one on bottom of toes.
I have always had poor circulation, so my cold tolerance is below that of others. But I can hang in there with the best of them with chem warmers.

Thanks everyone, you folks are awesome. With all  this great info I can't wait to climb into my treestand next fall and put the hours in for a booner blacktail buck to come tippy toeing by for a shot with my longbow. But this time I'll be toasty warm so I can make an epic shot of a lifetime.

When its cold I use hand warmers in my pockets and toe warmers in my boots, pretty much like everyone else.

Also, when its cold,I always wear a couple of camo face masks (one synthetic and one wool over that) and a thick Predator Camo stocking cap. I will put hand warmers under the stocking cap above my ears, on my forehead and on the back of my head. The stretch of the stocking cap keeps them in place.

Keeping my head warm really helps.

I have used the chemical packs and they allowed me to stay in the stand longer, this year I bought a Gerbing battery heated vest, I like it better, more control of the heat. Still a place for the heater packs in my pockets for my hands. The feet warmers just don't seem to do a lot, I bought boot blankets this year, haven't used them yet as it wasn't that cold yet on my hunts so far, that may change next week.
