That crooked Stick bow looks awful good to me.

The extra weight in the TD riser might mitigate some of the twitchy shooting qualities that such a short recurve could have.

If I were in your shoes, Terry, I would give it a test drive. I mean, why the heck not? You might just discover THE short, close-quarters bow that is right for you.

If you could find a used Cascade bow they are about as smooth as they get, shoot awesome and very quiet..only sold/traded mine because it was 55# and my shoulders are shot.
Mike(Crooked Stic)makes a awesome bow also, have his 3 pc. longbow and owned a couple of his recurves..

I'm on it....I love 60 inchers...my goto bows...got longer bows too that fit the bill at times...and a couple of shorter bows...but need a short shorty to round out my tool box.

I'll email you my addy and test out that bow if you do indeed have it.....thx

I've got a 50" Browning Cobra, and a 52" Wing Thunderbird. Both nice bows. 52 and 48" Bear Mag and Super Mag are nice as well. Mike Steliga (sp?) of Bruin Bows made some really smooth pulling shorty's too.

7 lakes makes the sawed off recurve but it's 54in. Good out to a 29in. Draw . His recurve has a longbow grip on it so you may like that being that you shoot longbow . Mike can have it to you in 4-6 weeks and at a good price.

Hey Terry,Tom here.
Dina shoots a Gene Sanders recurve, made right down the road from you in Dallas Ga.
She has killed over a dozen deer with it and it is her go to bow.
I don't know if he still makes bows but it may be worht checking.
Her bow is 52 at 28 and is 52 inches and is a fast little bow.

Gene Sanders did make a fine Little recurve, but he passed a way a few years ago. The Cascade NightHawk Magnum is a great short recurve, but they are hard to find. Good luck with your search, I have always had an affinity for short recurves.

I've been looking into getting a shorter bow myself. Would definitely help when hunting in a blind and in the thickets. That Crooked Stic looked like a sweet little shooter!

The Crooked Stic is a really cool little bow.  Handles well, dead in the hand and pretty quiet...I'm willing to bet I could get it as quiet as my longbows.

At 27.5-28 inches drawn, no real finger pinch.....smooth out to about 24 and then you can feel the power build....not really stacking at all, just firming up a little as she goes.(which I like since its only 47#s)

Nice craftsmanship and great mat finish work.

I found that it likes the Arrow Dynamic Trad Lites best.

The bow is now on the way to toddster.

Thanks for letting me shoot it Mike!!!

Terry I find what you said about firming up to be true. DFC showed it to be 3 1/3 per in on the last inches. That is why the 50 in. is 28 or under and probably better for shorter draw.
