Anyone shoot in the West Michigan area?

Anyone shoot in the West Michigan area (Grand Rapids)?  Are there any trad leagues or shops around after BDO closed?

Thank you!

I'm NW of GR in Muskegon, not sure of anywhere out that way to shoot but a thread not too long ago had a few suggestions. A few guys here were bummed when BDO closed the doors.

Good luck, if you're ever up this way shoot me a PM we have a good club nearby.

I'm from Grand Rapids. Rockford actually. Check out Grand Valley Sporting Goods in Allendale. They have a league Friday nights. West Michigan Archery Center has a trad league Thursday nights.

Please check out the Michigan Longbow Association as well. We shoot all summer and the bulk of those leagues are MLA members.

Much appreciated!!  I am about 50- miles from GVSG, so not sure if I want to commit  to a league there.  I've shot before at Chippewa when I was a competitive compound shooter, so I may check with them.

Thank you again!!

There is a sports shop North side of Grant that has a wonderful indoor range .
There is one in Howard City but the ceiling is very low and I can't shoot my longbow there . But they have several leagues and a couple of the guys there shoot trad .

Ranges at hilltop and magnum sports near greenville. No trad leagues to speak of. And no, once BDO went out of business there are zero decent trad shops anywhere near GR.

I shoot the league at Grand Valley Sporting Goods
MIBIGHNTR. It is on Friday nights and they start the 2nd Friday in January. They start at 6pm. it costs $10 to shoot. A lot of guys shoot every other week and just shoot 2 arrows at each target to have a "total league score" if you choose to compete the entire 12 weeks of shooting. They have a 32 target score every league night. Mostly 3-D's. There is an elevated platform that multiple archers shoot targets 13-16 from. Really nice lighting, heat, etc. Great group of archers as well. Usually around 25-30 are there shooting every Friday. You would love it. even if you decide to show up a couple/few times it sure helps beat the winter blues.   rat'

I know Tim amd have shot at On Target many times.  Its just too far for me on a weekly basis.

I may have to see if I can make it to Grand Valley.  Sounds like it would help me possibly pick up some pointers as well.

Thank you!!

I live in lowell and there aren't any traditional shops around my parts. But once and awhile I go goldstar on m-66 and shoot techno hunt. It's only 12 dollars per hr there. I also have  a 12 yard range I the basement if you ever want to come shoot sometime. Or go out stump shooting. I have lots of good state land stumping grounds around. Always looking for someone to shoot with. Just pm me if interested

Sounds good Nate!!  I used to live in Alto, and am now in Middleville.  Not too far from Lowell.  I used to LIVE at Al & Bob's shooting in the winter.  Those were my compound days though.

Nick,

I have been to a couple of the events at Charleton Park that you guys put on.  Mainly just to talk to the vendors and attempt to get more educated in the longbow world.  Always very friendly and helpful people there!!

I think they shoot in the old Meijers in Greenville during the winter months.  Get ahold of Jeff Wilcox from the MLA or MTB threads.

Not sure if they do that still or not Jon. Jeff and Denny have been shooting at West Michigan Archery Center on 10 mile.

I have Thought for a few years now that it would be neat to have an annual stump shoot in the Rogue River game area .
Could call it the Rogue River Rover's .
Could be a nice early spring thing .
