Hatchet
« on: December 16, 2016, 09:58:00 PM »
I've been thinking about doing this for a couple of years now. The recent cold snap gave me some time in the shop to finally get it done. The piece of wood was a bow stave from the giant osage tree I cut and split several years ago. I gave a piece of it to PatB.  It had a hole towards one end.  Pat cut the hole off and made a shorter bow for Pear Drums. He saved the piece with the knot hole and gave it back to me. It was the perfect length for a hatchet handle.

This is how it started out.

This is how it ended up.

Wow, that is really cool! Will it actually be used, or just a decorative piece? I would be scared to put one nick in that beauty!

Absolutely beautiful!! Now you need to put it on the StJude auction so I can buy it.   Never mind prolly couldn't touch it.

Very nice work.  Most people would have put that in the burn barrel, but you saw something special.
