Post Christmas squirrel hunt
« on: December 27, 2016, 12:41:00 AM »
Me and some buddies decided we'd go squirrel hunting today with this warm weather. Of course while they would be toting their shotguns, I figured I'd bring my longbow. After only a few missed chances, and even more jokes from my friends, I finally got one! Might not have gotten as many as my friends, but enjoyed the challenge of taking it with my bow. Anyone else taking advantage of this warm weather to hit the woods for some small game?

If you like to pull the string squirrel hunting's the thing... Looks like a hog fox squirrel. Our weather has turned blustery but since I am on vacation this week I'll try to get out.Congrats.

I imagine when you connected, your friends may have been teasing you, but I bet they were also envious of your skill. Good shot!

Nice.  Your friends may switch to bows now that they see how much fun it is.  I have been going but not having much luck.  Still I'm getting a lot of stump shooting and exercise.  I didn't realize you had fox squirrels in Kentucky.

Good for you, I'd rather get one w a longbow than 10 w a shotgun... that one must have taken steroids!

Shot at one the other day and missed w my squirrel arrow so I pull out a broadhead tipped arrow and shoot it almost straight up, then watched the arrow bounce around in branches and realized I didn't know where it was going to land so I took cover next to a hickory and covered my head--- pretty dangerous sport when you approach it as I did

Nice shootin' and thanks for sharing!
